Over 3580 acres of paddy harvested in Maungdaw as of December 2017

The Rakhine State Government announced yesterday that paddies in more than 3,580 fields belonging to farmers who fled to Bangladesh have been harvested to prevent waste.

The authorities formed a committee to harvest the ownerless rice, beginning the harvest on 28 October.
According to the committee, more than 168,350 baskets of paddy were collected from more than 3,580 fields in villages in Maungtaw Township. The paddy that has been harvested will be returned to the owners either in cash or in the form of paddy. The harvested rice has been systematically recorded with the following data: Owner’s name, plot number, quantity and moisture level (13 per cent). After recording thusly, the rice is bagged and stored in designated storage areas.

The government personnel who are performing this task are from the AMD – Agriculture Mechanization Department. AMD personnel from Mandalay and Sagaing regions have been brought in to support the local AMD personnel.- UEHRD Information and Communications Office.
